Romania’s Horus play technical/melodic death metal with atmospheric keyboards and what they state to be Egyptian influences. Whether it’s a musical or lyrical influence is unclear but after checking this out I’d imagine it’s the latter. Musically the band is quite impressive in their songwriting and delivery. The opening keyboard strains of “Revelation” sounded more influenced by goth but as this six-track release progressed this addition to their sound began to assume a life of its own as it complemented the guitars and vocals in a creepy and haunting fashion. My only complaint is that the songs seemed too brief and I would have liked to hear them progress a little more, especially with those keyboards hovering over the arrangements like a vast dark cloud. In any case this band is definitely worth listening to and contacting for further information.
