Sky Claudette Soto and Vlad Marco who comprise Eros Fyre have been active for several years (and are among the performance artists interviewed for Autoeroticasphyxium). I have attended their fire dance shows as a duo and with Sybelle Silverphoenix joining them. These performances must be seen to be believed. You embark on these journeys anticipating something otherworldly and depart feeling you’ve witnessed something unique and special. Besides their fire dance shows Eros Fyre have made several appearances on TV; some of these can be watched on Sky’s Youtube channel alongside performance clips. This is a New York based act through and through; Sky and Vlad capture the creative spark of what the city has to offer, a spark that may have been suppressed in recent years but not gone completely. Their self-produced film Indoctrination Of Fire presents a firsthand view of a collective imagination usually revealed when the sun descends beyond the horizon. The short unfolds as a dream or nightmare with bizarre, surreal imagery, matched by a diverse soundtrack that establishes new moods each time a new sequence begins. This soundtrack includes Sky’s poetry and Frank Garcia’s bands Waking Chaos and Nekropsy (Sky and Frank’s work has likewise appeared in AEA). The work of Zarzan, Louis Guidone and DJ Jinx is also worth checking out.
