Running Death is a thrash band from Kaufbeuren, Bavaria and their latest EP The Call Of Extinction is the follow up to their debut EP recording Raging Nightmare, released in 2010. This EP is being touted as appealing to fans of Megadeth, Testament, Metallica and Exodus but I could perceive some influence by Venom, particularly in the vocals, and some NWOBHM in the songwriting. Gritty production with melody in the guitars, precise drumming, tight musicianship and inventive time changes make for a solid sophomore effort that should be sampled at least once to determine if it speaks to you. Most of the five tracks pass the five minute mark so there is much room for the band to take unexpected and intriguing turns. The band have yet to reach the point where Megadeth and Testament have reached on their albums but they’re certainly on their way. Their next release is something I anticipate in this regard.
