Garbage Poem 27
Written by: Alan Lisanti (2015)

An oddity in a square box
An anomaly in a circular cage
A sore thumb
In the here and now
And nobody's engaged
Statistics are like the lies
That hide in the fine print
And flash across the screen
In microscopic text bombardments
Track it all and show me the numbers
It's the universe's daily reminder
That it's going nowhere fast
But is it going somewhere slow
I doubt it in the stagnancy of
Routine redundancy tenfold
It's just like pouring blood
Into a bottomless bucket
The more you give
The more it takes
Parasitic vulture
Insatiable hunger
Take the flesh as well

Leave no stone uncovered
